2020: A new decade of travel in Ireland with Walk With Me Tours

2020 heralds the beginning of a new decade of travel in Ireland and Walk With Me Tours invites you to come and join us on a trip of exploration and wonder in Ireland. In this era of technology, social media and climate change, Walk With Me continues to offer authentic touring experiences throughout Ireland that are personalised and offer their clients the opportunity to immerse themselves in a way of life that some would say is quickly disappearing. Walk With Me Tours continue to offer their clients an Irish experience where Ireland retains its old world charm that appeals to the discerning traveller but also combines modern experiences that interest people.

Mary & Ray of Walk With Me Tours added their tour of The Beara Peninsula to their listings and this day tour has proved exceptionally popular. Mary & Ray continue to offer the classic touring routes such as The Ring of Kerry, The Skellig Ring, The Dingle Peninsula and The Cliffs of Moher, but it is their trip to The Beara Peninsula that has excited and interested quite a number of their clients. The Beara Peninsula is an area of unspoilt exceptional scenery that is devoid of large coach and bus traffic due to its network of minor roads and trails.

The Beara Peninsula tour is a full day private motor sightseeing tour that starts in Killarney or the surrounding area. You will be collected at your hotel and travel through Killarney National Park en route to Glengarriff village, the gateway to The Beara Peninsula.

During the tour you will experience old world attractions such as Molly Gallivan’s Traditional Cottage in Bonane, the birthplace in Adrigole of the grandparents of the five O’Sullivan Brothers who perished on board the USS Juneau in the sea battle of Guadalcanal in 1942.

A visit to MacCarthy’s Bar in Castletownbere, the home of Dr. Aidan MacCarthy, a hero of the Second World War who survived the bombing of Nagasaki, is immortalised in the documentary film A Doctor’s Sword. Castletownbere is also one of Ireland’s premier commercial fishing ports and visitors will have the opportunity to observe the local people at work at the port.

The tour includes the Dzogchen Buddist Meditation Retreat Centre which is located high on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in a place of outstanding scenic beauty and serene peacefulness where one can contemplate life. You will have time to visit their Café and Bookshop perched on the cliffs, relax and let the world go by. The burial site of The Children of Lir on the outskirts of the village of Allihies is close by, there is a popular cable car ride to Dursey Island, Ireland’s only cable car, and there is the Copper Mine Museum in Allihies that contains the history of copper mining in the area in the 1800’s.

The Beara Peninsula is an area of unspoilt beautiful scenery, should be visited at least once in your lifetime and will live long in your memory.
