Killarney Jaunting Car & Sightseeing Tour

Killarney is known as the’jewel’ in the crown of tourism in Ireland and it is a true indication of the amount of activities and sightseeing on offer.

Killarney boasts Ireland’s highest mountain range with Carrauntoohil as its highest peak, glacial lakes, native Oak Woods and herds of native Irish Red Deer that roam wild together with the rare white-tailed sea eagles which are now thriving in the Killarney National Park.

There is nothing to equal an early morning drive with your Guide along the shores of Killarney’s three Lakes, Lough Leane, Muckross Lake and the Upper Lake better known in ancient times as “Barrnasna”. Your Guide will also allow time to wander off the road and take a gentle stroll to The Old Weir Bridge and The Meeting of the Waters, where the three great Lakes of Killarney meet near Dinis Cottage. The spectacular viewing point at Ladies View made famous by Queen Victoria’s “ladies in waiting” in the year 1861 is a sight to behold.

The breathtaking scenery at Moll’s Gap and the cascading waters of Torc Waterfall are a must as you make your way through Killarney’s 26,000 acre National Park that has Muckross House as its centerpiece, a grand old house built in 1843 by the Herbert family in anticipation of the Royal Visit by Queen Victoria in 1861.

Killarney is world renowned for its traditional horse-drawn jaunting cars with their drivers known locally as ‘jarveys’. Your Guide will arrange a jaunting car trip for you through the Gap of Dunloe to experience the breathtaking passage in the MacGillycuddy Reeks which was formed 2 millions years ago by glacial movements. Your Guide can also arrange a trip on a jaunting car to the other ‘must see’ sights and locations such as Muckross House and Gardens, Muckross Abbey and Ross Castle to name but a few.
