Welcome back to Walk With Me Day Tours for the 2024 Season.
We are looking forward to meeting many visitors from all over the world visiting Ireland.
Big changes are afoot on the Ring of Kerry touring route with the ongoing construction and development of the Greenway from Killorglin to Cahersiveen. The Greenway, which will measure 32 kilometres in length and is being constructed on an old single gauge railway line that closed as a train line in the 1960’s.
The railway line opened in 1890 and it was the only means of rail travel from south Kerry to Killorglin and further on to Killarney and the rest of Ireland at that time. This disused railway line is being breathed new life and will be a very welcome addition to the tourism industry in the region bringing outdoor enthusiasts to hike and bike one of the most scenic routes in Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way. It is expected that sections of the Greenway will open later this year.
Mary from Walk With Me Day Tours is as a former cast member and alumni of Up With People. Up With People is a non-profit organisation and we will welcome approximately 600 alumni for their annual Reunion to Limerick. The UWPIAA Week Limerick 2024 takes place from August 5th – 11th 2024 and the Reunion will be based at UL (University of Limerick) for the week. This is the first time the Up With People Reunions have come to Europe as they are normally held in the USA.
Mary is Tour Co-ordinator for the many tours to Killarney, Galway, the Cliffs of Moher, Inis óirr, Kilkenny and Waterford. It is an exciting time for cast members and alumni who will also perform shows as part of their reunion with their friends and rekindle friendships and many happy memories of times on the road.
Tom & Mairead O’Sullivan are just beginning their second year hosting the Kells Sheepdogs Demonstration on the Ring of Kerry and are looking forward to a busy year. Walk With Me Day Tours call to them on a regular basis when bringing people on their Ring of Kerry Tour for their great show. Tom continues to represent Ireland at International level at sheepdog trials and competitions and has a fantastic rapport which reflects on his show for visitors at Kells on the mountain stage. Tom’s show is another attraction that will benefit greatly from the Greenway which will run alongside the farmland where Tom’s sheep and border collie dogs perform.
Puck Fair Festival which is held the 10th, 11th & 12th of August each year has certainly moved with the times we live in and King Puck will no longer be hoisted up over the town of Killorglin. Last year and for the coming years, King Puck’s throne will be at street level to ensure that his Majesty is treated well and is not exposed to adverse weather conditions.
Ray & Mary have many one-day and multi-day tours on our website www.walkwithme.ie with much variety and activities to suit everyone. We like to ensure each tour is full of many sights and attractions, and everyone experiences the Irish culture, history, people and ceol agus craic.
